Masons donate to library's LEGO Program

Pictured with some of the LEGO inventions created at the Missouri Valley Public Library’s LEGOs events are Children's Librarian DeAnne Krumpel; Ray Pike, Masonic Secretary; Worshipful Master Pat Guinan; Library Director Bruce Kucher, and Phyllis Henrich, Friends Secretary-Treasurer. The two carts in the foreground were also donated by Masonic Lodge 232.
Masonic Lodge 232 of Missouri Valley has again donated funds to allow the children in the surrounding area to enjoy the LEGO events hosted by the Missouri Valley Public Library.
LEGOs are quite expensive and the Masons have generously donated on three separate occasions to help the library obtain enough LEGOs to meet the demand. The first LEGO event hosted six participants and the latest event had 36 area children present.
Amazing creations have resulted, from a garden to a skating rink complete with a Zamboni, bleachers, and spectators. Creations are posted on the library’s Facebook page.
Friends of the Library made an initial $600 donation to start the program. Patrons, friends, and several area businesses, as well as the major donations made by the Masons, have enabled the library to offer this popular event. The Masons have also donated two carts to help transport the LEGOs used in the program.
Donations are always welcome and needed for the many programs the library offers to the public at no charge. Patrons from surrounding communities in Harrison County and Pottawattamie County, in addition to Missouri Valley residents, are welcome at any library event.
